The Best Trips Aren't Discounted. They're Reserved Early.

Last-minute deals sound good. Here's what's actually left when you wait.

"Last-minute deals" sound glamorous. In reality, they're mostly a thing of the past — and in the segments of travel most people actually want to book, they've never really existed.

Airlines, cruise lines, and hotels have gotten very good at maximizing revenue. The best flights, the right rooms, and the experiences worth having sell out early. If you have specific dates, non-negotiable criteria, or you're investing serious money into a trip, waiting it out almost never works in your favor.

Here's how I actually guide clients on timing.

Europe Trips

Conversations typically start about twelve months out. We're usually booking around ten months before travel, once flights are released and the best hotels and experiences are still available and alignable. Waiting until six months out is fine for flexible travelers with flexible expectations. It's not fine if you have a specific anniversary, a specific region, or a list of things that matter.

Bucket List Trips

Safaris, expedition cruises, Antarctica, specialty journeys — eighteen to twenty-four months out is not an exaggeration. The best lodges have a limited number of rooms. The right cabins on the right ships go to the people who planned ahead. Waiting means you'll either miss out entirely or pay more for your second choice and spend the trip knowing it.

Holiday Travel

Think at least a year ahead for any in-demand destination during peak periods — beach rentals, ski chalets, festive city breaks. In some places, repeat guests get first right of refusal for the following year before anything opens to the public.

Why Early Actually Wins

The real advantage of booking early isn't price — it's access. It's the room you actually wanted, the lodge that was on your list, the experience that doesn't have a waitlist because you called first. My job is to track the key release dates, hold your spot, and make sure you never miss the window for the trip you've been thinking about.

Reach out as soon as the idea is real. That's when we can actually do something with it. [Book a call here.]
